My New Co-Pilot: A Week with Comet, the Browser That Puts Perplexity AI in the Sidebar

After a week of testing Comet browser, I am genuinely impressed. This AI-powered browser from Perplexity has become my daily companion especially while doing research on our articles and learning new skills, and here's why I am still using Comet.

What I Love About Comet

• Perplexity AI by default: The best feature is the choice between asking Perplexity AI or searching Google, with Perplexity as the default. I love that responses come in article format with clickable sources. Every link opens in a new tab automatically, which makes it easy to stay engaged and follow up while you search..
• Chromium foundation: Built on Chromium, Comet feels instantly familiar if you're coming from Chrome. When you log in, it automatically brings over all your Chrome extensions. No manual setup needed.



• Discover feature: The sidebar's Discover feature is brilliant for staying updated. One click and you know what's new without juggling multiple news sites or feeds or needing to querry.
• Spaces for organization: You can create spaces to organize your work and follow-up conversations, just like different chatbots do. It keeps everything compartmentalized.
• Tab grouping: The feature I loved most in Chrome was grouping tabs, and Comet has that too. I keep related tabs together.
• Built-in assistant: The best feature overall is the assistant available out of the box. One button click gives you help to summarize pages, manage content, automate workflows, and handle tasks. It's like having a personal browsing assistant.

I still use Comet alongside Chrome depending on the task, though. The current Comet interface reminds me of previous Chrome versions, which I do not like compared to the current Chrome design because of some delay and lagging while loading pages. However, it is definitely worth checking out and getting used to it.

Do you remember Chrome Dino, or Dinosaur Game when your internet goes off in Chrome? In Comet, there is no dinosaur, but there is Wormhole. In the Wormhole game, you control the speed of a comet, dodging space debris and using a dash mechanic to balance risk and reward. I loved this game, you can play it for fun anytime as well.
