MTN Rwanda and Ministry of Education Partner to Boost Digital Skills for Youth

MTN Rwanda has announced a new partnership with the Ministry of Education (MINEDUC) to expand digital skills training for young people across the country. The collaboration, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 29 January 2026, will integrate MTN’s Digital Skills for Digital Jobs platform into the government’s upcoming RISE programme to support youth who have not completed formal schooling.

Bridging the Digital Skills Gap in Rwanda

Under the partnership, the Digital Skills for Digital Jobs platform will provide access to more than 500 online courses that cover essential digital competencies. These courses are designed to help young Rwandans develop practical skills for the modern labour market, with guidance on career paths and future opportunities.

The initiative aims to connect digital training with real opportunities, allowing youth to move from basic skills to meaningful jobs or entrepreneurial pursuits. This focus on accessible and relevant learning reflects broader national goals to build a digitally inclusive economy where young people can thrive.

High-Level Support and Shared Vision

The MoU signing ceremony brought together senior leaders, including Honorable Paula Ingabire, Rwanda’s Minister of ICT and Innovation, and Ambassador Christine Nkulikiyinka, Minister of Public Service and Labour. Their presence highlights the government’s commitment to strengthening digital education as a core pillar of workforce development and inclusion.

MTN Rwanda emphasised that the partnership is part of its ongoing commitment to empowering youth with the digital capabilities needed in a fast‑changing economy. By aligning private sector technology with public education goals, the collaboration sets a foundation for long‑term impact.
