Digital Guardians Bootcamp to Teach Rwandan Students AI-Powered Storytelling

Kigali, Rwanda; A new initiative is set to bring together high school students to explore Rwanda’s history while learning how to use artificial intelligence (AI) for creative storytelling. The Digital Guardians: Innovating for Memory Bootcamp will take place from April 6 to 10, 2026, at Agahozo Shalom Youth Village.

The five-day bootcamp aims to combine history, creativity, and technology to help young people better understand Rwanda’s journey and express it through digital tools. The program is open to high school students from across Rwanda, giving learners nationwide an opportunity to participate.

Blending History with Technology

During the program, students will first engage with Rwanda’s historical narratives. They will then learn how to use AI tools to transform these stories into creative outputs such as:

• Short films
• Music compositions
• Poetry
• Visual and digital art

This approach allows participants to move beyond traditional learning methods and actively create content that reflects their understanding of the country’s past.

A New Way to Preserve Memory

The bootcamp highlights a growing trend in Rwanda’s tech ecosystem, where AI is being used not only for innovation but also for cultural preservation. By focusing on storytelling, the initiative encourages students to connect with history in a more personal and creative way.

Organizers (Growthwave Ltd) say the goal is to empower young people to use technology to document, interpret, and share Rwanda’s story, ensuring that important narratives are preserved for future generations.
