kLab Launches New Cohort of Future kOders Holiday Program

Rwanda’s innovation hub kLab has announced the return of its Future kOders Holiday Program, a hands-on initiative designed to introduce children and teenagers to coding, digital creativity, and robotics during the school holiday period.

Applications are now open for the program, which will run from July 7 to August 21, 2026, at kLab offices in Kacyiru, Kigali. The program targets learners aged 5 to 17 years, offering early exposure to practical digital skills in a structured learning environment.

Preparing Future Digital Innovators

The program reflects the growing importance of equipping young people with skills for a technology-driven future. Instead of focusing only on theory, Future kOders emphasizes project-based learning, encouraging creativity, problem-solving, and logical thinking.

Learners will be introduced to:

• Scratch programming for beginners

• HTML, CSS, and JavaScript fundamentals

• Graphic design using Canva

• Introduction to robotics

These modules are designed to help participants understand how digital technologies work while enabling them to build their own projects.

Why Early Tech Education Matters

Globally, digital literacy and coding are increasingly seen as essential skills. Early exposure to programming helps children develop critical thinking, creativity, and confidence in solving real-world problems.

In Rwanda, initiatives like Future kOders also support the country’s vision of building a knowledge-based economy by nurturing future developers, engineers, and digital creators from a young age. Such programs help prepare learners for a future where digital skills are central across industries.

Beyond technical training, participants also gain teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills through hands-on activities.

Program Details

The program will run daily from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Applicants must be aged between 5 and 17 years, have access to a laptop, and commit to the full schedule. The participation fee is RWF 100,000, and applications close on July 5, 2026.
