Meta Platforms, Inc., most commonly known as Meta, is an American multinational technology conglomerate based in Menlo Park, California. It was founded in 2004 as Facebook, Inc. by Mark Zuckerberg and other Harvard students. In 2021, the company rebranded to Meta Platforms to reflect its strategic focus on building the metaverse, an interconnected digital ecosystem spanning virtual and augmented reality.
